The cottage is said to be haunted by Ella Quinlan O'Neill, mother of author Eugene O'Neill. Her ghost is said to pace in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Eugene O'Neill, who spent his childhood summers here, wrote about the place in "Long Day's Journey Into..."
