Most Famous Cryptids in Our Database
Bigfoot / Sasquatch
The most famous cryptid in North America, Bigfoot (also known as Sasquatch) is a large, hairy, ape-like creature reported in forests across the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and beyond. With thousands of reported sightings, footprint casts, audio recordings, and the famous Patterson-Gimlin film from 1967, Bigfoot remains the subject of intense cryptozoological investigation.
Loch Ness Monster
Scotland's most famous resident, the Loch Ness Monster (affectionately called "Nessie") is an aquatic cryptid allegedly inhabiting Loch Ness. Described as a large creature with a long neck and humps, Nessie has been the subject of numerous photographs, sonar readings, and eyewitness accounts since the 1930s. The creature is often theorized to be a surviving plesiosaur or unknown species of large fish.
Chupacabra
First reported in Puerto Rico in 1995, the Chupacabra ("goat-sucker" in Spanish) is a cryptid known for allegedly draining the blood of livestock. Descriptions vary from a reptilian creature with spines to a hairless dog-like animal. Sightings have been reported across Latin America and the southern United States, making it one of the most actively investigated modern cryptids.
Mothman
The Mothman is a winged humanoid cryptid most famously sighted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in 1966-1967. Described as a man-sized creature with large wings and glowing red eyes, Mothman sightings are often associated with disasters or tragic events. The creature gained international fame and remains one of the most well-documented aerial cryptids in modern cryptozoology.
