Morgan's Corner was named after Dr. James Morgan who lived on the S-curve in the 1920s-1940s. In 1948, Therese Wilder, a 68-year old widow who also lived on Morgan's Corner, was killed in her home by two escaped prisoners. They bound and gagged her; she suffocated.
