A mental asylum used to stand on these grounds, but in 1948, a fire destroyed the property; nine died including the former wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda. It is believed that the casualties could have been zero, but the patients were drugged and locked in their rooms awaiting further treatment....
